Who runs the world? GIRLS

Today, women around the world took to the streets together, as one of the most beautiful and strongest forces in recent history. There were many issues on peoples minds: equal wages, respect, freedom of choice, public education, the environment and immigration rights, to name a few. Pink hats were ubiquitous and so were creative posters that shot back at an antagonistic regime that threatens the rights of women, LGBQ, and men.

Here in San Jose, the march started at the City Hall and spread across downtown to Caeser Chavez Park. Mayor Sam Liccardo was spotted taking action and marching along side San Jose’s diverse and united community. In San Jose alone, there an estimated 25,000 people that took to the streets–globally, the numbers soar in the millions.

As protesters cheered and chanted, it was clear that the people had spoken, and will continue to speak out against injustice and unite in battling the challenges of the next four years.
