At The Pack

Last week, days before the Election, things were already starting to look spooky at the Pack Theatre for The Halloween Ha-Ha-Hayride!

The Halloween Ha-ha Hayride was both hilarious and a tad spooky, with sketches like Rock N Roll Zombies, the Comedy Monster and Wednesday Adams gets her First Period. It featured a Spook-o Meter to gauge the spookiness of the shows, going all the way up to “Spook Your Socks Off.”

That same night, the drama was turned up with Scumbag Shakespeare’s Titus Andronicus. Despite the actors having rehearsed only once before the show, the spectacle was fantastic. The serving of love, murder, and vengeance was perfectly morbid and fit the spooky spirit. Parts of the play were intentionally cut out but the director’s coordination and the actors’ performance made the whole thing flow.

A few weeks ago, The Pack Theatre was named the Best Theatre Company by LA Weekly, and it lives up to the title every night of the week when comedians, writers, directors, producers and other creatives work together to provide an exceptional experience for their audience.

Most nights, the pack has several shows. As it’s a community theatre, it runs off of donations, so visitors are strongly encouraged to contribute what they can. The small theatre that sits 42 people, gets quite packed (haha); although, usually there’s enough room for everyone. If you’re a cheap date and in need of some awesome entertainment, you can still afford to come to the Pack.
