The SoFA fest has come back to South First Street once again, and people are thrilled to have a little more culture in their not so culturally endowed South Bay lives.
Unlike your typical art and wine festivals, which are very prevalent in these parts, SoFA is more popular with young creatives and has more of a city rather than suburbs vibe.
On Sunday, South First Street was a brighter, busier version of its typical secluded self. Couches lined the street — a distinctly San Joseian touch since being a couch potato is the South Bay’s favorite past time. Nearly a dozen food trucks carried treats satisfying to nearly any palate. Local artists and business owners sold their unique crafts to locals, who are easily lured by things that are new and shiny.
The festivals many flavors, sights and scents mirrored the diversely rich culture of San Jose.
Three stages provided musical entertainment, all with different genres: folk, electronic and rock. The whole crossing of First and San Salvador was covered in chalk, the colors were only exaggerated by a clown-like looking fellow orchestrating huge bubbles. While on the opposite corner, a wrestling match raged in the street, followed by a self of camera phones and supporters.
Local craft beer is always a hit, so the addition of the Uproar Brewery to South First Street and the local craft brew scene was very welcomed by the locals and Content Magazine who put together the awesome event for the breweries grand opening.
Once again, the SoFA fest proved to be a good time all around.
