What does a hearse, local music, corn on the cobb and some Pabst Blue Ribbon have in common? Last Saturday, they were all very present at Motorpool Automotives, where the repair shop celebrated their one-year anniversary in conjunction with this cool guy Nate’s birthday. The event was community driven — Tap-Tempo, a local music shop, helped sponsor the event and collected canned food donations for orphans.
An unlikely industrial location proved to be the perfect scene for a night of South Bay shenanigans. The garage was converted into a venue for local music where Campbell’s and San Jose’s local bands rocked out next to the skeleton of a 1950’s Ford truck and reminded the audience why their hometown is not so bad after at all.
Monkey headlined and they kicked-ass. The reason they kicked ass? Good music moves people. but Monkey’s music sends people into a jumping frenzy.
If you were’t there on Saturday night, you kind of missed out. Listening to music about having a good time, while sipping a PBR, and watching cars with their distant lights cruise over the San Tomas expressway overpass is the South side equivalent of a very successful weekend night.
