Festival season is the best season. It’s when we leave our world behind, and build a new one with thousands of artists, musicians and free minded people with a common aspiration to get festival and have fun. This world comes to life with the help of some very talented festival organizers, who work year-round like little elves piecing together a perfect platform for unforgettable summer festivities.
This year, I’m kicking festival season off with Lightning In A Bottle — “California’s premier camp-out festival,”or so they say… The wonderful people who put this event together are known as Do Lab. And they most definitely are wonderful because their intention is to bring people together to promote sustainability, social unity and growth, health, and creative being and thinking.
The Do Lab have put together a line up for this year’s festival which is kind of awesome — even though I’m not sure I recognize most of the acts. I’m also not sure how excited I am to see Moby, but I do know that I’m thrilled to get trippy to the sounds of Beats Antique and Little Dragon. And I’m even more excited about the sea of fun activities the festival has to offer, like endless yoga classes, talks from some of the world’s most forth-thinking minds, and a treasure trove of adventures I can’t even imagine.
This year Lightning In A Bottle is taking place in the San Antonio Recreational Area near Bradley, CA. Hundreds of years before this area became the stage for one of California’s finest festivals, it was the home of the Chumash people — Native American’s local to the area around St. Ynez Mountains and the coast. Expect to see much tribute paid to the Chumash people at this years festival.
