Things have really been shaking up in the South Bay this year. Santa Clara County has seen the most building development projects in the bay area.The endless orchards that covered the area a few decades ago have been replaced by a suburban tech hub. The area occupied by Santa Clara County has been known as the 408 since 1959.
About a year ago, 408 gave birth to the 669, and the baby has been growing steadily. Yet not everyone is thrilled about the change. San Jose’s Dan R. explains, ” I was born in the 408, and that is what I represent. 669 what is that?”
Others are more excited about the arrival of a new area code. Jose A. says, “I recently got a new phone, and when asked if I wanted a new number I was told about the new area code. So, I signed up and got dibs on a brand new number, since there’s so many out there that haven’t been taken I got a lucky one. It’s cool to be at the start of something. It’s the making of history, you know?”
