Holiday Drive

As the holiday season approaches, it’s a time to be grateful for ones blessings and supportive of those who aren’t as fortunate. Schools, businesses, religious institutions and average people all participate in the gathering of food for donations.

At some schools children take initiative and collect foods from their neighborhoods. In others, children receive food to take back to their families.

At Holly Spirit Catholic School in South San Jose, children have been collecting food, clothing and supplies to support single mothers.

Around town, Second Harvest Food Bank volunteers have borrowed food containers to collect treats for local families. Second Harvest Food Bank runs year round and there are always opportunities to volunteer. SHFB was established to help families at their times of need in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties of the Bay Area.

Second Harvest Food Bank is always looking for volunteers and you can sign up to help here
