Fall is celebrated by the falling of leaves, an earlier dawn, and one massive party! This year, Oktoberfest in Campbell came at the usual time when the leaves begin to turn and the local residents are ready for some massive sausages and endless beer.
Oktoberfest is an annual fair which originated in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, where the event has been officially celebrated since the early 18th hundreds. Today, the original Oktoberfest yields annual attendance of several millions.
Campbell, and cities around the world, have borrowed the autumn tradition. This weekend Campbell Ave. running through Downtown Campbell was closed off in order to make way for South Bay’s locals, merchant booths, and endless music.
One of the bands performing at this years Oktoberfest was Sunday Seven. The ensamble is one of the three bands that form the Silicon Valley Accordion Society. The band performed traditional Bavarian tunes and folk music all weekend, and they also gave the crowd a run for their money in traditional Tracht outfits, better known as lederhosen.
As the event was closing down, Vic Corsilia (below) of Sunday Seven said that the best thing about Oktoberfest is playing music and just being there.
